Weirdest Mooncakes for the Most Adventurous Eaters

Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节zhōng qiū jié) is a harvest festival held on the 15th of August in the Chinese lunar calendar every year. It’s the second most important (traditional) Chinese Festival after Chinese New Year. 

This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival will be on September 24th and the national public holiday for this festival goes on for three days, from September 22nd to the 24th.

And as a long-preserved tradition, this marks the time of year when Chinese people offer one another and eat mooncakes… 

LOTS of mooncakes.

Mooncakes are usually sweet and quite heavy. You could - but probably shouldn’t - eat an entire mooncake on your own, because they usually average 1,000 calories each. 

That said, in the same spirit of sharing weird designs [link?], the GiC team found a series of weird mooncakes we thought you would appreciate, particularly if you’re not familiar with mooncakes already.
